How did you get the idea to create a website?

Three summers ago I was searching the internet for some new lesson ideas when I came across a cool website from a teacher in California...  www.mrcoley.com.  I was so inspired by his website, that I decided I wanted to create one of my own!  After several weeks and hours of hard work....missholt.com was born!  I had lots of help from online programs and even some of my friends who are teachers helped me with it. After I got married, I also bought the domain name mrsgoldman.com!  I am in the process of switching over to iweb also!  Look for more to come!

How did you get the website name mrsgoldman.com?

There are a number of online sites that you can purchase a domain name from.  I purchased mine from www.godaddy.com.  This website is also my hosting provider.  I use a file transfer program to upload my pages to the internet.  It is pretty simple once you get started.  I originally used a program called Microsoft FrontPage to design the site.  It is similar to Microsoft Word.  I recently switched to Vista and now use Publisher.  I have been having some trouble with it though so I think I will be switching back to FrontPage VERY soon!  I am always changing things and adding new information to missholt.com.  Having your own website takes a lot of work and dedication.  To me, it is not work, though. I enjoy technology and this is really more of a hobby of mine.

Who goes on mrsgoldman.com?

Parents, students, and other teachers visit mrsgoldman.com every day!  My web statistics from my hosting provider show that over 5,000 people have been on missholt.com so far.  I think 4,999 are from my mom though...haha!

Where do you see mrsgoldman.com going in the future?

I want to take it even further than ever before!  I want to have interactive study guides, pod casts, flash player, homework/discussion blogs, and much, much more in the future!  I want to showcase student work and make it even more spectacular than ever!  I am still learning and adding new things everyday!  Website design has become a new hobby of mine.

What are some benefits of having a class website?

My students are able to go online and see what their homework is on a daily basis.  Parents are able to see what their child is doing every day.  I have resources available that are of assistance to the students.  Having a website is a great way for me to provide general information to students and parents and for parents to know up to date information about their child's education. 

How much time does it take to keep your website updated?

Having a class website takes a TON of time and dedication.  I probably spend about 8 hours a week updating and improving my site.  I am constantly learning new things and wanting to add new components.
